Education, Dialogue and Action workshop for an FGM-Free Future

Gender Links Kenya (GLK) conducted an Education, Dialogue and Action workshop for an FGM-Free Future in Chepngoror Village, Uasin Gishu County, engaging mothers and community members of adolescent girls. The session created a safe space for honest conversations on the harms of FGM, cultural expectations, and practical community-led actions to protect girls and promote positive alternatives.Mothers are powerful change agents when engaged through respectful, non-judgemental dialogue; communities are open to alternative rites that preserve culture without harming girls; and sustainable prevention requires involving local leaders, addressing economic pressures, and strengthening referral and support systems. Continued engagement and community ownership remain essential to achieving an FGM-free future.
